JOB TITLE: Partner Support Worker (Part Time Position)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is integral to the running of the perpetrator programme,
all current and/or ex-partners of men who are accepted on to the
programme are offered support whilst the programme is ongoing, this
support is continued for three months prior to the man completing the
programme.

The Partner Support Worker provides this support through face-to-face
contact and telephone support. A group work programme may also take
place subject to funding. The purpose of the support is to ensure that
current or ex- partners are aware of the content of the programme
material and that they remain safe and supported whilst their ex or
current partner is on the programme.

The Partner Support Worker will provide support to three (3) programs
currently operating in the Dublin region.

This will be an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in
supporting women who have experienced domestic violence.

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE PARTNER SUPPORT WORKER

* To provide support, advice and assistance to women and their
children whose current or ex-partner is attending a perpetrator
intervention programme.
* Support the empowerment of Women and assist them in recognising
the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation
and help them regain control of their lives.
* To work as part of the MOVE staff team providing an expert service
dedicated to those exposed to domestic violence, and their children.
This includes responsibility for providing information, emotional and
practical support with a responsibility for maintaining a focus on
keeping victims and their children safe.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records and databases and
contribute to monitor information for MOVE Ireland.

LOCATION: This position is a hybrid role, where face to case sessions
will be conducted in assigned locations in Dublin.
REPORTING TO: Area Co-Ordinator and CEO
HOURS OF WORK: **Apply on the website** hours per week. The successful
candidate will be required to be available for one hour in the evening
time on the nights the programmes are running. This is to provide case
management support to the program facilitators.

WHO WE ARE:

MOVE Ireland (Men Overcoming Violence) is a national voluntary
organisation working in the area of domestic violence. The
organisation supports the safety and wellbeing of women and their
children who are experiencing or have experienced violence/abuse in
their intimate relationships, by providing a group-work intervention
programme for men who perpetrate this violence and want to change

FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT THE POSITION

TENURE OF POST: This part time position is for an indefinite duration,
subject to funding. There will be a six-month probationary period.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* To ensure that the needs of the women involved with MOVE Ireland
are met by:

* Providing one-to-one face sessions including safety planning
* Delivering a partner support group for women accessing individual
support.
* Providing support by phone contact with the
spouse/partner/ex-partner
* Be available by phone on the night of the programmes.
* Developing close working relationships with facilitators and MOVE
Ireland coordinators.
* Attending risk management meetings with facilitators and area
Co-Ordinator at set times during the running of the perpetrator
programme.

* Provide advice by telephone and face to face to assist
victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence to understand the
services available and make choices about their own future.
* Contribute to promoting victim?s safety by supporting women to
construct a realistic safety plan.
* Develop effective relationships with relevant local organisations
to raise the profile of MOVE Ireland and domestic violence and its
impact on families.
* Support the empowerment of Women and assist them in recognising
the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation
and help them regain control of their lives.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records and databases and
contribute to monitor information for MOVE Ireland.
* Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures
policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of
best practice.
* To work as part of the MOVE staff team providing an expert service
dedicated to women exposed to domestic violence. This includes
responsibility for providing information, emotional and practical
support with a responsibility for maintaining a focus on keeping
victims and their children safe.
* Work as part of an integrated team through effective communication
and information sharing to increase the safety of women and children.
* Work within a strict framework of confidentiality and
safeguarding. Understand the legal framework relating to the
protection of children including Tusla?s Children First document and
MOVE Ireland policy on Child Protection.
* Write accurate and concise reports.
* Work flexible hours i.e. evening where necessary to be on call
whilst the perpetrator programme is running.

* Training

* To undertake training as required
* Give presentations and provide information to local agencies.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

ESSENTIAL

* Professional qualification in either social care / counselling or
equivalent and a minimum of 3 years (full-time) experience in working
with women experiencing domestic violence.
Or
* 5 years recent experience in working with victims of domestic
violence in a full-time capacity.

DESIRABLE

Knowledge

* An understanding and awareness of the needs of women and children
who have experienced domestic violence.
* An understanding of the complexities of partnership working and a
commitment to partnership working.
* An understanding of safe working practices while working face to
face with client?s.
* An understanding and knowledge of child protection.

Experience

* The ability to build rapport quickly with women.
* Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work daily.
* Experience of providing support to vulnerable people under stress
* Working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
* Demonstrable experience of working with women who are or have
experienced domestic violence within the context of a helping
environment, both face to face and on the telephone.

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES

ability to prioritise what needs to be done, planning, and reviewing
actions when priorities change. The ability to manage your own
caseload.

deal with stressful and difficult situations.
* INTERPERSONAL AWARENESS: showing understanding of others concerns,
takes time to listen to others, brings disagreement into the open for
discussion.

SKILLS

* Have excellent communication, negotiation, and advisory skills,
both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and
individuals.
* Relevant IT skills (Microsoft Office essential)
* Access to a car or alternative means of transport to enable the
requirements of the position to be met in full.
